Fifty Shades Parody
review 1: I thought I would like this book as a parody of Grey, which I absolutely hated. There were a few moments that were laughable, particularly when "Reid Mockery" over-emphasized the HOLY CRAP! writing style and poked fun at the overly-obvious inconsistencies and impracticalities. However, I felt like a majority of the book wasn't that funny and just too over the top. I understand that's the nature of parodies but expected it to be more humorous and perhaps less immature. I struggled to get through the book but finished it on principle and for the small number of parts that were actually funny that cropped up randomly.
review 2: A parody is one thing. A GOOD parody is another. This is the latter. Consistently funny throughout, “Reid Mockery” has put toge
... morether a near-perfect counterpart to Fifty Shades of Grey. It follows the plot of the original very closely, poking fun in all the right places. It also manages to poke fun at the characters and their motivations underscoring it. Time and again, I found myself thinking, ‘That IS what that character is like, and it IS ridiculous!’ In a way, I think I understand the Grey characters BETTER after having read this! And it was one of the very few times I found myself actually laughing out loud while reading a book.A very funny book, I look forward to reading Mockery’s take on books two and three in the series! Many a laugh to be had! less
