review 1: This has delightfully clever illustrations that intentionally contrast with the words on the page - e.g., on one page, it says that the little fox neatly stacked the vegetables in the wagon, while the illustration shows the playful mayhem of all of her friends juggling the vegetables. My baby (18 mos) loved these distinctions: She would stare at the pictures and try to make sense of what was happening. It really engaged her imagination - and engaged her cognitively. She stands up on her little reading chair to pull it off the shelf and says "Red wagon! Red wagon!"
review 2: Lucy has quite an imagination which even your littlest ones will be able to comprehend due to the magnificent illustrations in this book!As she is going to market, she imagines she is....in... more a roaring thunderstorm,...on a pirate ship,....covering the plains in a covered wagon,...running away and joining the circus,...and even having an encounter with an alien spaceship!No wonder she is too tired to play and falls asleep in her little red wagon. less
