review 1: Like many of you, I do enjoy a smutty read from time to time. Unlike many of you, I don't generally get into the whole m/m thing.Oh I tried, But every time I've forayed into the gay erotica or some times even the menage world, I've been disappointed.Ever since those exercises in futility, I've stayed away from the m/m, m/m/m, m/m/m/m, m/f/m, m/f/m/f - well, you get the idea. You'd think I'd learn from all that right? Not Zeekie. I tried this one after reading a good review on it awhile back.I hated it. Nothing rang true, from the experienced "bi" character who clearly was full on gay, to the straight character who never would have touched the other two men with a ten foot pole in real life. Different times I felt uncomfortable because it felt like an older man taking advant... moreage in a nambla sorta way and different times I was wincing and rolling my eyes at the ridiculous dialogue and actions the authors put the characters through. My biggest problem? The authors clearly don't know men. Gay or Straight. As much as they tried to make a point of informing us that many women who write gay romance often make the mistake of making the men act like women rather then gay men, they ended up doing the exact same thing. None of this cabin m/m/m, oooo let's teach the straight guy how hot it is to watch men f*ck, e-short story, worked for me. None of it.So 1 out of 5 from me. (And yes, you're right, I should have been able to tell that by the butt ugly guys on that awful cover, so sue me for my momentary lapse in judgment, okay?)
review 2: First of all, I rarely read erotica and Snowed In was that, IMO. Then, I also rarely read short stories and Snowed In is very short. So...for me it worked because those guys are best friends and if I have to read erotica, I rather the sex be between best friends than strangers that met in a bar.As for the sex itself, I did find it arousing and I'm sure if I had a dick, it would happily agree. The ending was appropriately open-ended and if I were one of those that needed an HFN at least, no matter what, I would still not have complained - those guys were headed for a long-term menage, as far as I was concerned, if not a permanent one.I went back to Diplomacy after that and I should finish it today. less
