review 1: Not going to lie, this book was kind of disturbing. I like computers, I use computers, understand that I have no privacy in this brave, new world, and like to think that I am pretty aware regarding the current state of the internet. This book showed me just how little I know about the cyber world. According to the author, the US is RIPE for a cyber attack that will make films like Live Free or Die Hard look like a Nostradamus prediction. It is really kind of heavy stuff, that covers the simplicity of corporate espionage, the ability for other nations to crash our electrical grids and financial systems and "secure" military networks. That being said, the book is not all gloom and doom. Richard Clarke articulates a very clear cut plan to secure the internet and critical syst... moreems that is very reasonable, would be cost effective, and doesn't call up the "regulation" boogie man most congressional representatives fear to unleash on the markets. Now if only we could get those congressional representatives to read this book and ignore the lobbyists that would fight to keep it from happening. Highly recommended for tech heads, people interested in modern warfare, and those in cyber security, however it should be read by as many people as possible so that we can leverage congress and are Tier 1 providers to make changes for the security of this nation at large.
review 2: Great job of explaining the very technical field of cybersecurity in English anyone can understand. This isn't a business book but the national security side (complete with why attribution matters more to national security analysts) and is very well organized to understand the problem and what might be done about it.If there's one book on cyberwar (the national security side of cybersecurity) you read, this should be the one. less
