review 1: I wouldn't expect a lot of business books to make me laugh, and laugh quite often, but Business Stipped Bare is such a book. There are so many people talking about the success of Richard Branson, but you want to learn from him inside out, don't you? So reading his own book talking about his businesses and success makes so much more sense than reading anybody else's take or analysis on his sucess. It might surprise you what his success, according to HIM, is due to. One of the things that impressed me was that he said, "my driving force was on purblishing magazine, not even music... is finding new ways to give people a good time." Don't you love it?I went through an entrepreneur course while setting up my hypnotherapy practice. During the course we had to define our demograph... moreic targe market. And I always had difficulty with it - how about all the rich people at all ages both genders with all sorts of problems? So it resonates with me when Branson says in his book that "Virgin is a brand appealing not to any particular demographic, but to an attitude of mind."He made a whole chapter talking about his mistakes and setbacks. I truly think his success is due to his healthy image about himself. He could talk about his mistakes without feeling any depletion of ego. He says, "It's embarrassing to admit this stuff, and I think it's a fear of embarrassment that discourages many chairman and bosses from doing their jobs properly." Admitting this stuff he's not judging himself. And when we judge ourselves, we stop wherever we are going. We let fear stop us.Business books might be dry and astract, but not Branson's. He has a lot of stories to tell, and he tells them well. You feel he's no difference from anyone of us.Now let's stop talking about business. Let's go do business. Inside our own mind we are all stripped bare. Let's keep looking forward - what more fun we can have next.
review 2: As the subtitle of the book suggests, this is a book that talks about the adventures of Richard Branson. In this book, you can read about Richard Branson's passion for his company, colleagues and life. As I do not have a full grasp of his adventures such as Virgin's attempt to acquire Northern Rock, I am not sure if the view presented in the book is a fair representation. However, reading through it, you'll no doubt want to root for Richard Branson and his Virgin teammates. There are also some good lessons you can take away from the book on life and business. All in all, an interesting and inspirational read. less
