review 1: My disappointment with this book was the lack of detail surrounding the characters during WWII. I bought this book after seeing Richard Madeley interviewed on breakfast TV in the UK and he sold it by talking about the sacrifices made by the British people during the Second World War. Having read many books set during WWII and WWI this was a poor imitation. The story was instead more of a mystery about the main character Diana's husband James. If Madeley had not made such a big deal about WWII I would have enjoyed it more. It wasn't a bad story, but it didn't quite hit the mark for me.
review 2: I saw Richard talking about his book on tv and decided to give it a try,thought it was a really good book.His description of places is super,he is eloquent with words.Th... moree blurb made the book sound exciting.Even though I thought this book was great I felt it was lacking a little something,I think he could have made the last part of the book a bit more intriguing,the story ended a bit too soon I think.Even so this was a good read for Richards first book I hope he writes more. less
