The Lake House

Hey guys! Tonight I thought I’d share with you one of my favourite books by one of my favourite authors, and that my friend is The Lake House by Kate Morton.

I read this book last summer, it didn’t take me long to finish, especially since it was the first mystery book I had ever read, which kept me on my toes the whole entire time. Kate Morton did an excellent job at keeping you turning the pages right till the very end, of course you don’t find out what happened until the very last chapter.

To those of you who love time changes in books, this would be an excellent read for you, Morton manages to expertly write in two different eras yet still make it all combine into one huge lovable story.

In the first chapter she did an amazing job at pulling the reader in, I find that lot’s of books are hard to get into or read at all due to their beginnings being quite lacking to say the least. What was it lacking? Well lot’s of times they’re lacking that certain juice, that intensity, the mystery, the suspense. I find that Kate Morton was brilliant when it came to giving the reader just the right amount of thread so that they may grasp on and continue pulling until the very end.

What was my favourite part of the book? Or my favourite part of her writing? Well to be honest my favourite part of the book was the first chapter, it made me tingle, of course I cannot tell you what happens but I can recommend that you read it.

To put it simple, this book was suspenseful, engaging, intense, and on every single page another movie leaps out at you, her detail and description were so overpowering that it made you feel like you were right there, at one point you can smell their tea, taste the wind on your lips, and feel the breeze blowing through your hair.

Kudos to Kate Morton for writing such an amazing book with such an immense plot, at one point I wanted to rip out my hair because she left us with yet another cliff hanger until we reached the next time change again.
