review 1: I love the plot twists in this one and totally did not see them coming. The story starts immediately in the action, and the protagonist's voice takes the audience's attention and intelligence for granted in a way that is purely compelling for his characterization. I pretty much can't get enough of this series.Read it, people. If you're a grown-up or mature YA who likes YA-oriented urban fantasy, but are sick and tired of YA urban fantasy pulling its punches when it comes to sex, violence, and cussing, then this is a good series to get started on, and this book in particular is flat-out excellent.
review 2: “The Foul Mouth and the Cat Killing Coyotes” is the second book in the King Henry series. The King Henry tapes are fun, fun and more fun. I just love the
... morem!Like in the first book two stories are parallel told. The first story by 14 year old King Henry and the second by grown-up King Henry. 14 year old King Henry goes on the first school field trip with his new class members – a camping trip of all things! Thrown in a tent with his favorite enemy Welf and hearing creatures outside the tent at night… the school trip is not going as planned… I LOVE 14 year old King Henry and it’s so much fun to see how he handles this unusual situation. Grown-up King Henry saves a lady in a parking lot from bullies… not because of the lady (of course not!)… just because he cannot stand bullies… Unfortunately one bully is the nephew of the King of Coyote Nation and so King Henry starts almost a war just by proving a point ;) This time I liked the story of 14 year old King Henry a bit more. Maybe because it was so much fun to see King Henry interacting with the very emotional girls on that trip.Overall I loved this book as much as the first book in the series. King Henry – always swearing, being sarcastic and rude but never diplomatic – is one of my favorite book characters. I am looking forward to the third book in the series “The Foul Mouth and the Troubled Boomworm” (publ. date: 2013). less
