review 1: This book was such a surprise. It had a lot more depth and thoughtfulness about it than I thought it would. It posed a lot of really interesting questions (and situations!) about life, choices, the effect we have in the world, and just figuring out who we are. It had a bit of a nice mystery element in the form of clues and riddles to working with the crystal ball that were fun to try to decipher and the dynamic between the three friends was really intersting as they were each very different. I think a lot of teens could relate to them and their situations. I ended up really liking it. I think it would be a great book for a book discussion with teens. I gave it 3 stars but really it's more like 3 1/2 stars. I would definitely recommend it.
review 2: This was a f
... moreun read that seamlessly combines realistic fiction with a dash of fantasy. The book very nicely explores how you are responsible for making your own future, for creating your own destiny, and there is no one to blame for your mistakes except yourself. The characters are more or less interesting, though it does, unfortunately, rely on the cliche of the mean cheerleader and the grown ups seem a bit unrealistic. But if you are looking for a fun, light read, this is a good choice. less
