review 1: Dark, seedy tragic story. The author does a great job presenting his research and the facts without bias or interpretation. I saw Robert Kolker on 48 hours in July and you could gather his thoughts and beliefs from the things he said in the interview but not from reading the book. It is incredible how engrossing a book without a conclusion can be. At times it reads like fiction, he really gives these women a voice without glamorizing their lives.
review 2: Focuses more on the people involved in the Long Island murders (the murdered girls and their families) than the crime itself or the police work. Hence, disappointing for me as I didn't follow the story or "know" the characters involved. Great for anyone who followed the Long Island serial killer story closely
... more when it was in the news circa 2010 and have a thirst for more info ... there's plenty here. Great book for those people, but not for me. less
