review 1: Very good book. Lots of love, intrique, and tragedy. Based on real life history, though, so it makes the tragedy that much more, well, tragic. I have already added the next book in the series to my "to read" list. The characters are well-developed and this book takes place over a multiple year time span. The good guys are VERY good, and the bad guys are sad, pathetic, and sometimes just plain evil. Worth your time. Read it.
review 2: It was a bittersweet love story and I loved the main Jewish family and the way the auther showed the connection between German families who helped Jewish families. Some good, some bad. I tend to like tragedies and of course any book that deals with the holocost is a tragedy. It portrayed another angle of the holocost and ... moreI dont think we can possibly ever have enough stories about this horrible time in our history to remind us to never let it happen again. less
