review 1: Ben Walsh knows his grandfather won't give him his parent's ranch until he gets married. So, he approaches Gina Reyez with a business deal...marry him for a couple of years and he will buy her a house and give her a large settlement. Gina hesitates to take the deal because she definitely doesn't want to be married. But she would like the financial security the money would give her and her family. Gina agrees and everything is going fine until Ben's Grandpa Joe shows up on her doorstep. The next things she knows, she and Ben are flying to Idaho to visit family and things are getting out of control.I've enjoyed every book in the Domestic Gods series and was looking forward to this one. Unfortunately, there were things that just didn't work for me. I thought Gina was very irr... moreitating, always whining and complaining about everything. And I never understood why Ben fell in love with Gina. I loved the character of Ben (what woman wouldn't?). I also enjoyed meeting the various members of Ben's family and look forward to their books in a spin-off series. My rating: 3.5 Stars.
review 2: The story was not bad, I must say, however, that Gina is one of the stupidest females written about. How is it that smart, savy, successful women are so stupid on the other hand? Gina has baggage from childhood and now must manage everything and everyone. She meets Ben who needs a wife so he can inherit his "birth" ranch which his granddad is holding hostage to make Ben get married. Ben, who starts out a little silly too proposes to a couple of women before he settles on Gina. He will pay her for her time. No strings. They get married and with one thing and another he or rather they fall in love. Then things hit the fan. Ben makes mistakes....Gina acts stupid... and there you go. I give this 3 stars because its not badly written. Otherwise it would be just 2 since Gina is so annoying. less
