review 1: I found myself on the fence about many aspects of this book. I enjoyed much of it and the writing is clean and engaging. I do like Fisher, even if he comes across a little too perfect sometimes. What I really struggled with was I had a hard time liking the heroine. I found her to be too brusque and not overly believable in her conflict...so much of her "stuff" could've been solved with a simple conversation or asking a question. And being so hung up on one event from high school just didn't dig deep enough for me. But, the overall love story and love scenes were enough to carry the book for an easy read and a solid 3.5 stars.
review 2: This was my first Robin Kaye book and unfortunately #2 in a series. Maybe if I had started with book 1 I would have had
... morea better read. I found this to be dull and boring. I had no connection with the characters. I did not find Fisher to be anywhere near an alpha male. Instead of going after Jessie, who he is madly in love with, he sits in his home letting it get messy, drinking and knitting-WTF???!! Fisher is a little girl. His meddling family is OTT, not cute and definitely not funny. Fisher is supposed to go all alpha male on Jessie, when? Fisher is a whiny little girl. The little sister, Karma, was just a brat. Her meddling didn’t make sense. I will try Hunter’s book, hopefully I will have success with his story. less
