review 1: The life of Lincoln as might have been seen and experienced by his two youngest sons: Willie and Tad. The events of history are what they are. I don't know if Lincoln was destined to be the president that guided the United States through the Civil War or if he just rose to the occasion. I do believe he had a great sense of public morality; a willingness to sacrifice his own personal comfort, wishes, and desires for the good of his country. He and his family had more than their share of challenges and difficulties. I also believe he loved his boys. That, to me, defines a great man.
review 2: I LOVED sharing this book with my family! This book is geared towards a younger audience, and is just right for elementary aged kids to see this famous president through th
... moree eyes of his sons. This story is told from Willie and Tad Lincoln's perspectives. This was just as engaging for us older folks as for the young people in our home. I had a hard time making it through the last chapter because I was crying so hard. The paintings in the book are breathtakingly beautiful. The story is short enough that you could read it in an hour our two. It only has 3 chapters, and we read one chapter per day.Rosemary Wells is a master storyteller and artist. I have great respect for her ability to tell a story in a very touching way.Highly Recommended!!! less
