review 1: This novel is another ho-hum romance with a twist and a complication before the two lovers FINALLY get together for good!!! This book is a sequel to The Accidental Mother, but it can be a stand-alone book. Sophie Mills, a corporate manager, becomes the guardian of two little girls after their mother and her best friend dies. The father, Louis, has been out of the picture for three years and has returned to take the girls. Sophie falls in love with all three, and they move to Cornwall (by-the-sea) from London. The Accidental Family begins at this point. Sophie and Louis are making plans for their wedding (of course Sophie has doubts and insecurities which hamper the process) when along comes the complication - a 20 year old son which Louis never knew he had. The rest ... moreof the book is resolving this complication. The thoughts, emotions, and witty parts are well written, but it took me about a third of the way into the book before I got the desire to finish it.
review 2: Rather boring and pedestrian, actually. Perhaps it would have been better if I hadn't already read "My Best Friend's Girl," which is basically the same concept as the first book, "Accidental Mother," and done much better. The characters are stock, even Sophie. We've seen the male-best-friend-who's-gay-and-is-acerbically-witted-and-fashion-conscious before, in pretty much every book about high-powered people, and the portrayal of the male lead, Louis, is rather disappointing. less
