review 2: SUMMER READING 2011SITI H.M. KHAIRIMadame Pamplemousse and Her Incredible Ediblesby Rupert KIngfisher160 pagesBloomsbury Publishing PLC $8.99ISBN 0747592306Madeleine is not here to stir up trouble but working at her selfish, mean and arrogant Uncle Lard's restaurant has made her so. A chef herself, she knows why her Uncle's restaurant is in trouble and tries to help. Unintentionally, she runs into a little shop full of curious food and finds friendship in an unlikely setting and a chance to get away from Uncle Lard. Of course, she couldn't help but stir up trouble anyway to achieve those things. Madame Pamplemousse on the other hand, is a reserved, quiet and extraordinary cook who creates unique concoctions and sells rare ingredients in her little shop in France. When Madeleine stumbles into her shop, flabbergasted, troubled and out of breath, Madame Pamplemousse gives her her rarest most precious food to give to Uncle Lard. With that, Madeleine stirs up trouble, Uncle Lard wants the recipe since the introduction of such dish at his restaurant was so popular. This is a good book, easy read. If you like cute little stories with morals at the end, then read this book. This is also the kind of story you can tell orally especially for little kids. less
