review 1: This was a great read! I loved Sarah. She was spunky and funny. Tony was a real sourpuss. I'm not sure how she dealt with him, but hey, more luck to her! The story was fun, interesting and had a life of it's own. Each character helped build a stronger read. I loved this book and found it hard to put down! The back stories were enough to not bore the reader, but good enough to create a well flowing story. I love this author and this is just another example of why she's on the top of a lot of readers insta one click lists. Sarah trying to write a sexy book, her notes, Tony finding it, was all too much. I was laughing out loud and couldn't stop. This is a must read.
review 2: Gentling the Cowboy (Texan Nights #1)By: Ruth Cardello4/5 starsSarah Dery is on a mission
... more to find herself and jumpstart her writing career. She’s tired of working for her parents in Rhode Island where she is only half-living, feels suffocated and isn’t writing anything even though that has been her dream. So with an invitation to visit her college roommate at her and her brother’s ranch in Texas, she packs her suitcases, loads her horse up in her horse trailer and takes off. However, she’s not all that great with directions and there is more than one ranch in Texas with name Double C.Tony Carlton has hidden himself away on his ranch in Texas. Hounded by his famous past, the media and the paparazzi, Tony doesn’t trust anyone except for his ranch manager and his housekeeper. Tony doesn’t allow anyone to get close to him, to talk with him or to truthfully know him and the man he is underneath his wall. He generally hurts people and makes them angry so that they will leave him alone. When he finds a stranger in his shower, he is rightfully upset, but he also finds himself reacting differently to her than anyone ever before.Sarah can see the pain and suffering behind Tony’s eyes and she wants to help him, not only because he is smoking hot, but because she knows what it is like to bottle up all that pain and to be drowned by guilt. She hears his words when he says that what they have, but she can’t help but hope that she can save him and that what they have could turn into more.Tony truly believes that he can’t be saved and thinks that he needs to cut Sarah loose so that he doesn’t hurt her, but he just can’t force himself to do that because Sarah has made him feel again. But he also can’t bring himself to face what Sarah makes him feel. Sometimes he even feels that he has to resort to his methods of keeping people at a distance with her. While finding herself, and hopefully finding love, Sarah does get the experience she needed to become a romance writer…even if that experience is not the kind that she had in mind. less

3.5. Too much fantasy clashing with attempts at harsh reality for me. I liked the characters though.
