review 1: This is my third book by Ruth Herne Logan I've read and I must say I enjoyed it. Her heroine made you want to slap her a few times but she was a realistic, Christian-version of Olivia Benson. I liked her grittiness, her toughness, and her indomitable will. She jumped off the pages of the book. The hero was great and realistic although I did not connect with him as I did with her. All in all, it was a great book and I can't wait for the next one in the series.
review 2: Although this novel had potential, I thought it was rather poorly written and developed. It dragged on and on, at least 60% of the book seems to be repetitious wheel-spinning, for no good reason that I could discern. Seriously, how many times does the author have to repeat herself--most of your r
... moreeaders are probably not imbeciles. I also could not enjoy the book because the unlikable heroine was such a rude, selfish, entitlement-minded harpie. So her grandmother sold the farm, get over it, Ms. Greedy, put on your big girl panties, and make your own way, like most normal people do. Nobody owes you flowers, grow them yourself! She also refused to let her stupid grudge with Alex drop, long after anybody with two brain cells might have realized that she was being immature, spoiled, and stupid, and kept harping on it at the most ridiculous and inappropriate times, eeyuck. I can see why her former boyfriend would lose it and slug her...I really wanted to! Surely Mr. Unrealistically Perfect could have done better than that termagant. My big unanswered question about this book: why is it portrayed as good for the heroine to leave a nasty controlling abusive guy who treats her like dirt, and yet also considered good for the hero to stick with this nasty controlling abusive scrunt who treats him like dirt? less
