review 1: What a refreshing, entertaining, original read! I absolutely loved Tom and Lexie's story. I've never read anything like this before. The story's set in a cross-country bike trip from Oregon to Virginia. Tom and Lexie are both endearing, interesting characters, likable and flawed in their own ways. It's a realistic development of a relationship. No instalove, just getting to know each other and slowly growing more attached. Their misunderstandings don't drag on endlessly, but rather get resolved quickly and the story moves along to the next part. The dialogue is funny and witty. The characters actually sound like they are talking to each other, in a way I might talk to my own friends or my husband, for example. The narrative flows easily and it's not repetitive or heavy at ... moreall. We are even treated to some wonderful steamy scenes.My only complaint is that it ended too soon! I want to know what happened to Lexie and Tom after the last chapter. Alas! Looking forward to checking out more of this author's work. Glad I stumbled onto it!
review 2: That is... 4stars for a romance novel.You can always tell when an author has a more personal experience with the subjects and environments which they write about. Or maybe Knox just did a LOT of research?I really enjoyed Ride with Me because of all the details of Lexie and Tom's TransAm journey. I found myself looking up maps of where they were (I'm not from the US) and looking at images of places they rode through. It painted a beautiful setting for a beautiful relationship. Plus I'd never read Thoreau's Walden before, and now I'm thoroughly interested in picking up that classic :) less
