review 1: 4.5. At first this book seemed like typical chic lit. Uptight rich businessman meets free spirit. Then it got worse, I just can't stand old hippies, and the idea of playing in a drum circle in a swamp in Georgia..yuuuck. But it's Ruthie Knox and I know she's always worth reading. So I stuck it out. And it got better, enjoyable. Then wham! She took it up a notch, and then another notch and then another. Until I realized I wasn't reading chic lit, I was reading a novel outside of genre boundaries. A good novel, a great novel. So, this is a novel about the fat grey line between good and bad where most people live. And how to love and forgive your family and friends when they are not perfect, because maybe no one is. And yeah, there's a hot guy in it... more too.
review 2: I totally enjoyed reading Roman Holiday, Ashley and Roman were two people that had the makings of not fitting together as a couple for a lot of reasons. But again Ruthie Knox has managed to pen a story where everything makes sense people and story wise. Being a serialized novel, Roman Holiday was a book that invites lingering and reading between the lines of dialogue so witty and fun that sometimes you get lost in the superficiality of the conversation. Not many readers would really like Ashley, especially in the first five installments but she truly shines in the last five. With certain truths being accepted, Ashley finally accepts she has grown up and is ready to step out in the world. Roman's own personal journey was obvious from the very beginning and he ends the last chapters as more mature, less serious and more appreciative of Ashley. Roman Holiday is definitely not ordinary and not a quick read but it can't be truly appreciated any other way.*ARC provided by the publisher thru NetGalley in return for an honest review* less

Cute story. Glad I didn't read it in serial format, because that would have drove me batty.
