review 1: Scott Walker, Austin neurobiologist, gets snowed in while on vacation in the Ozarks. He is rescued by a local, Lia Houston. While Lia is trying to chain his car to her truck she is injured and ends up stranded at his cabin.The storyline is shallow and the character development is virtually non-existent. To me, this was all about the sex with little relational and/or emotional involvement.I cannot recommend this book.
review 2: 1.5 starsBooks like this are the reason I have become very leery about Kindle freebies. Simply put, this is a very poorly written book. It abounds in misspellings, incorrect grammar and misuse of words (e.g., "for all extents and purposes"). She clearly has no idea of what academic medicine is like (hint, there's no such journal as the Me... moredical Journal). What is needed here is a good copy editor. Unfortunately, the story isn't a whole lot better. This is apparently the 12th book in a series and for some reason she found it necessary to include a long section recapping a previous storyline, which had no purpose to the present story except to show the hero interacting with happy couples and thinking that being in a committed relationship didn't look too bad. That point could have been made without including the bizarre tale of female drug lords and amnesic medications. This felt like fan fiction--amateurish but well-intentioned and kind of entertaining though certainly not publication quality. Imagine my shock to discover she's published a ton of books and apparently has quite a following! There's no accounting for some people's taste. less
