review 1: Reviewed by VictoriaBook provided by Ellora’s Cave Review originally posted at Romancing the BookWhile I have never read anything by Sabrina York, the summary sparked an interest. It definitely makes you look at the vertical world twice.Shannon is Tristan’s personal assistant. She is indispensable to not just Tristan but the company as a whole. She buffers her bosses gruff nature and is one of the only people that can put up with him. What everyone does not know is she is in love with her boss.Tristan along with his brother Adam and his college roommate Jack they started a company. Tristan’s main rule was “don’t fish in the company pond”. Sabrina has Tristan rethinking this rule. The chemistry between Tristan and Shannon is off the charts. They are a pair that i... mores made for each other in and out of the bedroom. The sex scenes were hot and explosive. They burned the pages up.I would have loved to see what stunts Adam is going to pull after what Tristan put Adam through in dating Kat. There was the threat all through the book but nothing was done to back it up.I would have liked the story to be a bit longer. I would have also liked the ending to be a bit less abrupt. Overall, this was a wonderful book. I just loved that Sharron was not some pushover. I am hoping for another book. I would love to revisit these characters in the future.
review 2: Office romances are never a good idea: or that’s what Tristan thought. So much so that he made it the number one company rule at his gaming development company. Unfortunately, that rule also made it near impossible for him to indulge in his fantasies for his assistant, Shannon. Tristan is so adamantly against intra-office relationships that his brother and his newly revealed girlfriend Kat (also an employee) caused quite a rift in the daily operations. But, the heart wants what it wants: even if it starts as full on lust fueled fantasy. Tristan has used the newly expanded capabilities of their latest gaming system to create a series of scenarios involving himself and Shannon, in several role-play games, all of them sexual. Shannon is, to all eyes, conservative and restrained. Efficient beyond belief, she has also carried a torch for Tristan, but never thinks anything can come of it. When a mix up with laptops and impending deadlines give her access to Tristan’s computer and his secret game scenarios, she realizes that his distance is far more for show, and his fantasies are far deeper. In a clever push and pull, the characters are both so freakily stubborn, with their adherence to the rules despite all else. The sexual chemistry alone melts the sheets, and they actually have things to talk about when not engaged in teasing each other beyond words. Slowly but surely, Sabrina York brings these two to their knees, when the realization of their feelings hits. Unfortunately, Tristan’s stubborn streak almost causes him to lose Shannon as his love and as the best assistant ever: like many men, he requires more than a few baseball bat blunt hints to see reason and flout one of his own written in stone rules. There are no unhappy endings in stories by York: and there are no characters left unsatisfied for long. With clever conversation, believable obstacles and all roads leading to a happy ever after: it’s a book sure to please.I received an eBook from a contest win. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility. less
