review 1: 3.5 StarsI loved the whole been best friends for years idea. Where it fell flat for me was the comrodery such as hanging out for pizza night, movies, going out etc. I wanted more of that. The only time we really got it was when Patrick was describing Brandon's body.It just felt like...sex...danger...sex...danger....sex....danger...sex...sex....sex.... I wanted more substance.I loved Patrick's reaction to kissing Brandon. It felt authentic and genuine. Brandon won my heart. I'm totally infatuated with him and his wonderful soul.Destiny, I could have liked a bit more if I would have learned more about her. I missed that connection.Sex was hot and explicit and very well detailed. Overall, good read.
review 2: I bought 'Destiny Calls' right after I finished '
... moreWith Grace', hoping that it was just as good. I was wrong, it was...So. Much. Better!! I loved this book and really hope to see more from the author soon. First, what I really liked: the plot was realistic. That's a problem I have with most romances- the plot is either too perfect, contrived, or completely unrealistic. But in this book, the angst was natural to a new triad relationship. Each character felt, to an extent, as the third wheel or not part of the long term HEA. Especially in the case of this story when one character has to first come to understand his new feelings for his best friend and the implications this will have on his life. The flow of this story was very good. It didn't feel rushed. I could feel each character's reservations and concerns, as well as their joy and excitement. I felt the closest connection to Patrick, maybe because we saw him first in With Grace, but I also think he was the most developed. I love when he started showing his Alpha tendencies- swoon! And I loved when Brandon took control too- there was such a great push/pull sharing that went on between those two. Steaminess factor: woo hoo...I'm still fanning myself. The author again did a nice job of writing those love scenes. I'd love a little more dialogue in the love scenes, though, to keep it moving. Only thing I didn't like: ok, I know this is erotic romance, not mainstream romance so the love scenes are part of the plot and play a much bigger role in the story, but the plot was so good that I wanted a bit more mainstream romance in it. I wanted to see some more romance, more of the palpable tenderness outside of the bedroom- maybe a few dates out for dinner, a sexy dancing scene, or something? Overall impression: this one will be added to my re-read list on my kindle for a fun romp. I can't wait for more from this author. less
