review 1: 4.5 Stars Sorry there maybe some spoilers... I really enjoyed this book. It kept me intrigued, the story twists and plot turns were great. The characters were complex, raw and lovable. The connection between the three main characters is amazing. Even the supporting characters are written well and have depth. I loved that Juan, Noah and Peppa were okay and all entwined by the end. If I'm being completely honest as the same in the first book, although I like the book was written in the 3 main characters POV I still felt like the story's pacing took one step forward and two steps back. We heard the same event described by each character and to me it was redundant and slightly boring. Plus it kept the story from progressing, as it only had new events every third chapter, I fou... morend myself scanning those chapters looking for the new information while skimming the stuff I already knew. I thought the author could have told each characters POV without so much repetition. The end had a different pace as she got to the good stuff quicker. I also have to say I was extremely annoyed at Peppa for not being able to forgive Juan immediately. I get that being lied to sucks and thinking someone you love is dead beyond sucks. But the moment she found out Noah wasn't dead all the hurt should of went away. Juan didn't betray her he was protecting her. She could barely keep it a secret from Lara when she found out for less than 2 days. Did she really think she could have done it for all that time it took Noah to adjust. Juan protected her from that and from having to watch Noah in all that pain of trying to control the blood lust. I just thought Juan was the most selfless one and she was being selfish by not seeing past her own pain to realize the burden he carried in the name of love for her and Noah. The way I see it, is he had no choice. It wasn't like he was lying to protect himself, like he had cheated and he didn't want her to find out. He was lying to protect her and Noah. He kept the two people he loved safe. And she made him doubt himself, all that could have been avoided had she opened her heart to the truth sooner, had she sacrificed as much for him as he had for her. Don't get me wrong I did love the story and the characters and if there's another installment I will be reading it. This was my first vampire series as I'm not usually a fan but I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed the genre. I loved Juan and Noah just little bit more than Peppa is all. I didn't feel she appreciated the love and devotion she truly had in those two men.
review 2: I am not a fan of the vampires genre and that will not change. However, I am not afraid to come out of my comfort zone sometimes as these are the times when you will find something that will leave you with a lasting impression. Like in the first book, the story is told by three different points of views each one telling their own side of the story where you could understand each one's feelings but I also found it to be times it was a repeating what I just read. But now I can say I'm glad I give it a chance. less
