review 1: Meandering in parts and the supernatural motif is a tad underused despite certain lurid scenes. But it can only have been written by a Singaporean. Plenty of ambiguity and mixed feelings about the little red dot. The last quarter picks up in pace and power as the supernatural as a metaphor for progress develops more traction. Pretty fluid storytelling from someone with a filmmaker's eye. Promising debut. Looking forward to next book
review 2: At first I could not get into this story. It was so slow and I had no connection to the character but after some encouragement from my sister I plowed on and once past page 70 I couldn't put it down. I couldn't finish! It is too dark for me but rather well written. Just disturbing!
