review 1: Sara Mack has a natural talent in story telling, but even more than that, her characters feel real. I knew from the first chapter when I met Kyle that her ability to capture a character on paper and transform him to a living, breathing, teenage boy (and later into a man) was very good. If an author can't write a believable hero in a romance....there's gonna be trouble ahead. But Sara Mack writes a believable hero! No doubt about it.And her heroine, Addison, is just as real.I'm leery when reading a book that has the type of conflict Sparrow has (the conflict being the event or situation that keeps the hero and heroine apart) because of my own personal convictions on such matters. I can't say more than that in this review simply because it would give away a major plot spoil... moreer. But I can see the mindful ways in which Mack was careful to keep this story "above the line."Mack's writing is gripping and her pace is flawless. With sharp dialogue, angst, and gritty emotion, Sparrow is a well-crafted story.I was provided an advanced reader's copy of Sparrow in exchange for an honest review.*Mature language and suggestive content
review 2: Kyle and Addison met each other while they were both vacationing at Buhl Lake. Kyle and his brother Kevin would go to visit their grandmother at her cabin. They would help her by working around the house and yard. Kyle had never been so taken by a girl. They both at seventeen felt that they had found the one. Addison was supposed to see Kyle before he left to go home for football camp but he didn't hear from her and her family was gone from the lake. He tried texting and calling her cell phone but was never able to reach her. Eventually within the year her cell phone was disconnected and he didn't know whether she was okay or not. Kyle had refused to visit his grandmother's cabin after Addison's disappearance. He finally returned after 5 years with his brother to clean up the cabin. What happens when your past collides with your present and possibly your future? That is what happens to Kyle when he is surprised to see her at the lake after no contact. What will be her explanation for the hasty disappearance and for not contacting him in the past 5 years. I recommend that you read and find out what happens between these two young loves. Will they be able to reconnect with each other or will too much time have past leaving them to go their separate ways. This is a great read! less
