review 1: It is the spring of Clementine's third grade year, and all the 3rd and 4th graders are getting ready to go on their big field trip to Plimouth Plantation. Clementine and Margaret have agreed to be partners, so that Clementine can help Margaret with anything that is germy or dirty, and Margaret can help Clementine with the "no food noises" rule that the 4th graders have put in place. But when a new girl named Olive joins Clementine's class, all of their plans are turned upside down. Another great Clementine story, looking at how we handle friendship and the changes in our lives. Recommended for grades 2-4.
review 2: I was lukewarm on this until the Heavy Medal discussion--sometimes it's hard for me to register the perfection of a chapter book novel, and this is... more one I think I underestimated: Pennypecker's plot, in particular, is very clever (in a good way), and Clementine continues to be a compelling, believable character.I have started to seriously wonder about Margaret, and I hope the next installment in the series deals with her OCD. I think it could be dangerous for kids to think that Margaret's level of obsessiveness is normal. less
