review 1: A story told in alternating chapters of two girls. Jill, who has lost her beloved father in a car accident and Mandy, a young pregnant girl hoping for a miracle from Jill's mom who is desperate to find hope after her devastating loss. At first, Jill is suspicious and resentful of Mandy, sure that she is somehow scamming her not to mention she has alienated every friend she has as she tries to deal with her grief. Finally, the story weaves the lives of these two very different young women together for a satisfying ending. I really enjoyed this book. It's not a wild, thrilling, page-turner, but it engages you quietly and then makes you care about the characters in the book. My only complaint is that some of character's traits become a little tiresome, but I guess that ... morecan happen in real life too. I would recommend this book to teens who like quiet, sad, but engrossing reads.
review 2: this is one of the best books I've read.basically its story is quite different from the others.no romance, just light comedy but has an amazingly good pace.it has 2 voices of narration-Jill & Mandy.its about 'Adult adoption'.the story starts when robin(jill's mom) decides to adopt a baby illegally through a website just after the death of gavin(jill's father).mandy is abused by her step father & her mother doesnt care about her.mandy is pregnant decides to give up the baby 'cause she's only 18 & poor & wants to do the best thing for her child.jill loves her dad & has shut out her friends & mom since his death.a beautiful, moving ,realistic story of how they learn to trust & become a family & better their lives together.... less
