review 1: Roomies is the story of Elizabeth (EB) and Lauren. They are two about-to-be college roommates who decide to communicate via email during the summer before college. As the correspondence progresses the letters become increasingly intimate until they feel like the friendship has gotten good, bad and now must end. Discussing boys, family and the future all over email can be exciting as you can say anything but can also be devastating because you can say anything. The girls learn a lot about themselves and their character as they navigate the world of moving on from home and all that entails: leaving parents, siblings and friends is at once exciting but also heartbreaking. A great read for anyone about to go off to school and away from home.

... morek brought back so many memories of when I left for college. It made me think about my roommates and the friendships I developed with them. I enjoyed reading about Lauren and Elizabeth and how their friendship grew. It was an interesting concept of having them get to know each other before even meeting in person. Social media is very common now. Makes me wonder how well you can truly know someone only communicating online/by phone. less

Seemed a pretty accurate reflection of how it felt the summer before starting college.

Kind of boring. It was just page after page of the same angst.

The ending wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.
