review 1: The problem with everyone saying "OMG THERE'S SO MANY TWISTS" in their reviews (yes, I just did it, too), is that there's a good chance you'll be able to guess what they are waaaaaay ahead of time. Like, before you even open the book. Unfortunately, when a book moves at such a slow, quiet pace as this one, it can make a person impatient and irritable waiting for the reveal(s). That said, the prose is very fine, and Guillory handles the foreshadowing adeptly. It's the reviewers causing the main problem here! *shakes fist at everyone including myself*
review 2: 4.5 stars. I love books where the story & writing is so beautiful, it feels like you are reading poetry. That's how this story is and I thought it was beautiful.
