Picking up not long after the dramatic ending of The Sleeping Prince, The Scarecrow Queen sees Errin and Twylla both trying to fight Aurek, the sleeping prince, from different places. Twylla out looking for people to help her start a rebellion, Errin in the clutches of Aurek, suffering as she tries to find a way out.
With help being offered from some familiar faces and some new, Twylla has to do all she can to bring the people together and find what they need to bring down Aurek. Discovering more of herself and her own strengths, she needs to become a strong and sure leader even if she has to fight to become that.
Whilst Twylla is gathering followers, Errin is in the Castle, stuck in Aurek’s grasp and doing all she can to figure out how to bring him down and kill him. With Silas being used for the Elixir, Errin won’t leave him behind, even if it means she has to suffer another day with the cruel sleeping prince.
With the book split into three parts, the first and third in Twylla’s POV and the second in Errin’s, it gives a real insight into how both girls are fighting the same battle together from different parts of the country, doing all they can to end this and try and save the people they care about. Both POV were needed as there wasn’t a way to have this story told by just one of them, they both play a major part and it was written just as perfectly as the other two, leaving me wondering, waiting and questioning just what was coming next.
As for it being the end of the trilogy, it couldn’t have ended better. Everything was wrapped up and finished, giving closure to what is definitely one of my favourite trilogies. Now to see what’s next for Melinda Salisbury.

Did I love it? Yes.
Would I recommend it? Yes, if you’ve read the first two you definitely need to see how it ends, it’s worth the read.
