review 1: Lightweight, predictable YA story of a teenager in the last days of her senior year who discovers she can call a younger version of herself. When Devi drops her cell phone in a fountain at the mall, the phone can only reach one number---herself at the beginning of freshman year. Soon older Devi is barking orders at young Devi, trying to change the past to improve her present. "Don't talk to that boy!" "Do more extracurricular!" "Buy a lottery ticket!" "Cheat on tests!" Listening to this in audio, I alternately felt bad for young Devi, and annoyed with both of them. Of course, it all ends well, lessons are learned, and a "Back to the Future" ending has the entire family much improved.
review 2: 4.5 starsOh my goodness. I started reading this book thinking it was
... more going to be a cute story about a girl who talks to her past self, and that not much was going to come out of it. (I mean, I was expecting a good read, but not this way. )But h o l y m o l y. What. A. Read. I have lost the ability to even. This was like reading a modernized, two-hour-long episode of The Twilight Zone. And that's a good thing! I love Twilight Zone! There was so much timey-wimey-ness to this book, it would make an entire season of Doctor Who jealous. I have to say, I wasn't really expecting to love this book as much as I did. I wasn't expecting it to be as messed up as it was (I mean that in a good way, of course). The main character, Devi, was flawed, and at times, selfish and a big jerk, but the awesomeness of this book made up for it. Just. Guhhhhh. Amazing book!!!!! less

This is a somewhat annoying, boring book that is at least enjoyable to read.
