review 1: Before reading this memoir, the only things I knew about Sarah Palin were from the media and my peers. Therefore, I dove into this book thoroughly believing I was going to be met with an obnoxious, unintelligent, hypocritical woman. This couldn't have been further from the truth. After reading her book, I realize you can't always trust the mainstream media provide you an accurate representation of someone, especially a conservative.Palin makes many commonsense points throughout this book. I wholeheartedly agree with her when she talks about how the younger generation (which is unfortunately mine) has an overwhelming sense of entitlement. The line that "nobody owes you a living" is something I wish I could tell many of my friends that feel like just because they have taken ... morea couple of classes at the local community college, everything else should just fall into their laps. I'm not really sure why so many people have such a negative opinion of Sarah Palin. I definitely don't believe in everything she does (I don't even remember the last time I went to church...) but she believes in personal responsibility and has positive morals. It scares me a little that these things are apparently looked at as things to be ashamed of.
review 2: At the risk of creating a backlash of criticism, I was deeply moved by this book. Another reader claimed Palin had only others' words, but that was exactly what she was reflecting upon. Having been all across the US during both her political campaign and book tour, she had the opportunity to cull from so many she met (and has read) reflections on what it means to be an American. We are free to disagree with her opinions specifically because we are in America. I fail to see why simply being willing to speak what she believes makes her such a target. Why is it that she seems to invoke such vitriolic reactions from those who don't share her views? So you don't agree with her politics? Vote for the other party! I found this book to be a wonderful reflection of American values. I hadn't expected to like it so much. less

I really enjoyed Going Rogue but this book was harder to get interested in, much less finish.

Fun, hokey, lukewarm reading. Like Mac N' Cheese.

A little too detailed, but worth reading!
