review 2: I don't think I've ever wanted two fictional people to get together more than I did Jake with Ruth, and May with Charlie. That aspect, the quality writing, and the historical content made me an eager reader. My one complaint is that Ruth was a little irritating at times regarding Jake, but she was a likable character I sympathized with overall. Perhaps the author made Ruth a little irritating by design s... moreo that the reader would admire Jake in spite of his faults. I know I did! less
