review 1: I LOVED this book. I was reading til 4am last night cause I just couldn't put it down. And I don't usually get excited over "feel good" books. It's a well written twist on Cinderella. There were elements of that but plenty of differences.Mattie is the Ugly Stepsister (in her mind, anyway) and Ella is her beautiful sister. Actually, they live with Mattie's Dad so technically, Ella is the stepsister. Ella is beautiful and can do no wrong. She even has the perfect boyfriend. The one that Mattie has loved as long as she can remember. One day the sisters finally talk and Ella dumps her bf so Mattie will have a chance. She wasn't "into" him anyway. Mattie still doubts herself but wants to believe she has a chance with Jake. Ella does all she can to help.There's a bully who gets ... morewhat they deserve and even a ball. No glass slipper. A happy ending but not an over the top "happily ever after" kind.
review 2: I received this book free from the author free in exchange for a review, a win-win for me. It is a well written cute YA backwards take on the Cinderella story. The main character, Mattie, is the sister who believes she is ugly and undeserving of love, but secretly has been in love with the hottest guy in school for years. The hot guy who is of course dating her stepsister, the beautiful, lovable and kind "Ella." One of the best, parts of this book for me is that Mattie's favorite movie is the same as mine.
