review 1: Good book and very informative. The book is small and of only 211 pages(latest edition) but if you decide to take up reading this book you will have to give it a lot of time, you cannot read it like a novel and read 1 hour everyday. You will need to read slowly and understand the concepts and you will have to pay attention when you're reading because in some chapters the concepts are like a chain, if you do not understand the first link you'll have a hard time understanding the next one. I've read this book mostly while travelling and I had not given my maximum attention so I will probably read it again.The book is a rookie's guide to Economics and mainly from a macro point of view, the author, Satish Y. Deodhar teaches Economics at the IIM-A. He had written this book to p... morerove to others that Economics is not a "dismal science". The book gives you a basic idea about certain concepts that on a macro and micro level that you're unfamiliar with. Like CRR, Fiscal Deficit, Repo rate, etc.Good read.
review 2: Day to Day economics, the perfect book for those who are interested in having an overall idea of macro economics. The author himself has explained the concepts taking the help of anecdotes and recent examples/cases pertaining to India. Especially the chapters related to inflation, unaimed opulence and unemployment, was something I liked reading it - which doesn't means that other chapters are not-so-good. All the chapters will help you gain an insight to different functioning of a country like how taxes are levied or RBI takes measures to curb unemployment et all. For sure, this book is a good head start for knowing about Indian economics, or as it we can refer this as an rookies guide. :-) less
