review 1: There are some oddities in Kuro. Most of the book is presented in the four-panel format. But unlike most four-panel comics, each column isn't a self-contained gag, but part of the overall chapter. Since there are more traditional pages mixed in, it took me awhile to get the hang of the format. The storytelling is also a little fragmented. Two characters appear in the first chapter, then are "introduced" in a later chapter. It seems like the first chapter had been a pilot, but maybe it should have been shuffled back into chronological order when published, because it's confusing as is.On the plus side, the art is largely very cute, and the overarching story is compelling enough to keep me reading. And the individual episodes are usually well-told, and emotionally effective.... more The oddities are really mild in comparison.
review 2: This book blew my mind. the fact that its backward was awsome. this book is about a girl named kuro who is on a journey. she is usaly mistaken as a boy or a witch. people dont under stand why she carries a coffin on her back. Kuro is on a journey and hellps people on her way. she has good times and bad times. she runs in to a few people some good some evil but she always gets through it. i rate this book an A because its uniqe and creative . It is kind of hard to understand but once you get a hold of it you'll get it. I recomend this book to comic book lovers and people who like creative adventurer books. less
