review 1: Scott Meyer is shaping up to be a good fantasy author. I get the impression he's still searching for his voice, but the basic building blocks are already there. Once he settles into his own, I expect we'll only see increasingly greater things for him. On the off-chance he's reading this: hi, Mr. Meyer. Please include as many humorous dialogues in your books as you possibly can. They're your greatest strength and I didn't see as many of them in the first book as I would have liked. There were more in this book, but I want even more yet. Even more yet, damnit!
review 2: Basically, see my review for the first book in the series. Enjoyable, a little pandering, not a whole lot of conflict, but a lot of enjoyable character interaction. I would recommend it if the i... moredea of nerds trying to live out their fantasies of being Arthurian wizards, Atlantean sorceresses, or a variety of other magical mythological figures and dealing with some of the practical repercussions of showing up in a time and place that was doing fine on its own, thanks, is interesting to you, and maybe skip it if not :^].
