review 1: Nicholson hits a home run with this exciting thriller. The plot will keep you on the edge of your seat while you try and put the pieces together. The prose is sharp and makes for a quick read. Don't start this late in the evening unless you have the next day off from work. It's weird and frightening, and speaks volumes about our current throw-away society. You may even think twice about that next blood pressure pill. Nice work, Mr. Nicholson! I'm already off to the sequel!
review 2: “Liquid Fear” is a medical thriller about an experimental fear drug that was tested on 6 volunteers 10 years prior. None of the volunteers are aware of what they are truly agreeing to and ten years later have no memory of what happened during those original drug trials. ... more They also have no idea that the drug trials are not yet officially over, and the 5 remaining volunteers have more data to provide whether they want to or not. This was not one of my favorites by Scott Nicholson. The idea was original, the first couple chapters were truly fantastic, but about half way through the book it just didn’t really capture me anymore. It was too far-fetched and I felt like there were ultimately too many side stories going on with too large of a cast. The characters were one dimensional with no redeeming qualities or backstory’s to make me ever grow to like them. I couldn’t really empathize with their plight because there was not enough character depth for me to connect to them; honestly I disliked all of them. The girls were all whores and the men were all heartless or evil. I think maybe fewer main characters so the remaining ones could be expanded upon might have resolved this. less
