review 1: This book was terrible. The only reason I finished it was because I was out in the woods with no connectivity on my Kindle, and it was all I had. This was the most pointless, meandering, uninteresting story. The characters made no sense/were unlikely, and there were far too many of them. The author kept introducing them as if they mattered, when in fact many were completely superfluous. I really hated this book and wish I hadn't wasted my time on it.
review 2: There's an awful lot to be said about this book--it's like it was specifically engineered for a book club discussion--and the three stars are primarily for that. Discussion is good, and a book that demands discussion is always valuable. But reading this bit by bit on a nightstand--rather than disc... moreussing as we go--this book was an endurance, a lot of fluff packed around a few strong scenes... less
