After the Snow
review 1: I found this book using the read-a-like feature on Novelist. I thought it might be a good way to check the accuracy of this feature. I so often like to use it with patrons that I thought I should try it. I loved the book Knife of Never Letting Go. It just seemed like the perfect blend of things that I love. This book is not perfect. It took me two renewals to get to page 100 and I gave up on p. 133. The story is slow moving and the dialect that they create for the main character is too distracting. They never seem to get enough steam in any of the exciting parts so I never grew much of an attachment to any character. There is a lot less drama when you don't care if the character makes it. Definitely pass on this one!
review 2: This is a slightly differen
... moret dystopian world where the world is covered in snow and cold year round. The characters were engaging and you began rooting for them. They were tough, strong, and vulnerable but not whiny. It was bleak, dangerous, and very gruesome at times. A word of caution, the book is written in dialect/slang which can be difficult to read. It took me several chapters to adapt to the style of dialogue and I was about to stop reading because of it but the characters had gripped me by then and I had to continue to get to know them. It is bleak but there is also hope which makes this a more realistic story than most. less
