review 2: A new author for me, picked up through the Amazon freebie program. This is the fourth in a series featuring Ryan Lock and his partner, Tyrone Johnson as the protags. Dropping into the middle of this leaves the reader w... moreith a lack of back story. The author does a little fill in, but not a lot. Definitely will have to go back a catch up with the previous three books.The book itself moves along at a fairly rapid pace. Some parts of the book are predictable, others contain some suspense. All in all it’s a pretty good story, well told, even if the plot is not totally original. Drug cartels, corruption, kidnapping, and an honest cop on a mission in Mexico and date rape and escape prior to conviction in U.S. All aspects have pretty well been written about extensively by various authors. Black does a good job of making his work stand out just a bit. less
