review 1: I was disappointed a bit. I thought we'd eventually get the whole story about what happened to Jim, but we never really did. Such a long book for so little plot resolution. But we managed to get through most of the possible kinks at least once. Which was apparently the goal.I kind of felt like the whole boyfriend versus the therapist thing was pretty empty too. Neither one of them seemed to be doing poor Jim any favors. You may have been getting him off the anti-anxiety meds and the coffee, but you just substitute one dependence for another. Guy has no coping mechanisms for making it on his own.. maybe there's a follow up book eventually dealing with that stuff.
review 2: Gave up at 68%This is the first book I've given up on in a long time. Usually I ca
... moren suffer through books if only to find out what happens at the end but this one didn't seem worth it. First of all, this is a very long book, which is great when the story is good but terrible when the story is bad. This is a case of the latter. There are a couple of things that made this book impossible for me. First is the writing style. A bunch of the other commenters called it stream of conscious-like, which I believe is fairly accurate. It was interesting at first but got super annoying very quickly. It was especially annoying because the attitudes of both the sub and dom were unrealistic. The sub spends all his time saying "I need" and "yours" and really can't seem to stand up for himself at all. Another thing that bothered me was that although there was set up in the beginning for a promising relationship, it quickly began to feel more abusive in nature. I mean, the dom doesn't give his sub a safeword until they've already had a few scenes, and doesn't make sure his sub knows how or when to use it until after he has coerced his sub into getting both a tattoo and a piercing. While I'm all for body modification, this didn't feel consensual, as the sub goes "no I don't want it" a couple of times, the dom goes "I know what's best for you" and then the sub freaking listens to him! There wasn't even any compelling logic behind getting these very permanent things! Not okay. A third thing (and the final that I'll talk about) is simply that neither of the characters ever became very relatable. There was very little character development - very little plot at all - as it seemed almost every other scene was the two having sex. And the scenes between the sex weren't even very good, significant scenes! It was kind of like, there may as well have not been any plot at all! Nothing happened! I feel as though the author was attempting to stuff a sex scene into every single chapter, which resulted in no storyline and terrible sex scenes anyways. less

I liked this one but found it slow.... its lacking in the story line department.

Incredibly poor writing. Repetitive sentences and shallow characters.
