review 1: A wonderful romantic story. I find it a comfortable story that I can just get lost into. It is mostly sex {including fisting and twincest} but there is a story weaved in with the sex a long with some delightful descriptions. I've read the story 3 times and enjoyed it each time. I wished their second argument had been better resolved... more talking before the sex. The preface was sad, for me, due to Raine's other lovers and what one causes him to do. This isn't gone into in graphic detail and is necessary to the story but my heart broke for Grey.Still, for me this is a great book. There is much I love about this book: the length, the romantic feel of it, the characters, and the way they were shown as unique individuals, the way they met, Whit's thankfulness for the two of ... morethem, the way Whit became their centre, their thoughtful gifts to each other, the descriptions that put one in the story, the beautiful ending, and I also love how the author showed them falling in love with each other, and the growth of the relationship. The return to the bar where they met, on their 1st anniversary, is just perfect. The story has a clear HEA. The ending is complete, which I really like, as I greatly prefer this method of story telling over the popular tell parts of the story in separate books, forcing people to buy more than one book to get the complete story. There is, however, a sequel to the story: Painting the Desert. Painting the Desert has a lot of angst in it. It's a great book but for those who do not like angst, the story does not have to be read. There are health issues in Painting the Desert, but the three remain in love and committed to each other.
review 2: Whit met twins Raine and Grey Holstein by chance and became the center of their life by choice. The story is an exploration of the melding and evolution of these three lives, a sensual journey into love Sean Michael style. This is a great book. In some ways it reminded me of Jarheads, from the couch to the bathroom to the bed to the bear skin rug… LOL However, the mood that Sean Michael created in this story is very different. Everything has a very tender, romantic, sensual quality. It’s fantastic sensory overload. Touch, sight, taste, smell and hearing all come into play when Raine, Grey and Whit get together. It is that complete immersion into the characters experiences that makes this book an engaging, emotional read. As always, we experience the point of view of all three characters. This is critical in any threesome story. We all want to know that no one feels “left out” and everyone “belongs”. Sean Michael does a fantastic job of achieving that balance long term. The Center of the Earth and Sky has a lyrical, dreamy quality that I have never seen before in an m/m erotic romance work of this length. I have seen it in several short stories, but it usually gets lost past 15,000 words. If you are looking for lots of plot, angst and action, look elsewhere. If you are looking for hot manlove, romance and sensual enjoyment, this one is for you! PS: This is a twincest story. So if that is not your cup of tea, skip. less
