review 1: I received this free eARC in exchange for my honest review. Sooo I've had this book for a long time and just got around to reading it. Whoops... Anywho, I really enjoyed it. I don't have any knowledge of immigration, legal or illegal, but I think the author did a wonderful job writing about it. Ana is so selfless it's amazing to read. She goes out of her way to help others who have so much more than her only to get a small portion of that help back. And she is very loyal to her family, even when most would have been selfish and left them behind to pursue better things. And Ethan is also not what you would expect from a rich doctor, single father situation. He does not judge which that in itself is a rare thing and he is always trying to figure out his teenage son, but with... moreout someone to shoot ideas at it's a bit of a struggle. Glad I read this even though it's not my usual genre or story.
review 2: Yours to Keep is a romance novel -- and for people who think "romance novels" are necessarily not as good as other books, this one will prove you wrong. Serena Bell is a solid, strong writer, doing a lot to make this genre more than a formula. Her main characters are well drawn and likable, complex people, not ciphers. The plot drew me in, and I learned a lot about what life is like for undocumented immigrants. Bell's slogan is "Where smart meets sexy" and that's a very apt description of this book. Absolutely smart -- and sexy enough that I worried that the strangers sitting next to me on the plane might glance over at my Kindle and realize what steamy passages I was reading! less
