review 1: Anton Collins' life will never be the same again after aspiring actor and former gay porn star, Scott Black, appears at the Komlos Manuscript Library to research libary science. Scott wants some insight into being a librarian before he auditions for the part, and Anton is only too willing to help despite the pressure he is facing at work. The "instalove" plot is often derided, but it is handled well in Rescuing the Librarian and it had me believing. There is an instant attraction between the two, but there is nothing to say that there will be a happy ever after for the two. The shy, scholarly Anton cannot understand what the sexy Scott sees in him, while Scott worries that Anton is too clever for him. Then there is the matter of their careers to overcome. My only quibble w... moreith this book would be the huge coincidence regarding Scott's parents. But since I read the book in one sitting and thoroughly enjoyed it, I am overlooking that fact in rating it 5. Anton and Scott are back in the next in this series, Discovering the Actor, so I am looking forward to seeing what is in store for the two.
review 2: 2.5 stars. Ok m/m romance about a research librarian who agrees to help a porn star attempting to break into more mainstream acting get a better understanding of what a librarian's job involves. Alas, I had some niggles about this one - the actor, from Scotland, must not have had any accent at all, since the librarian didn't realize he was from Scotland. How likely is that? And what happened to the librarian's assistant, who seemed as if he was going to be a critical player in the story, but vanished after a couple pages? less
