review 1: I really wanted to like this book but just could not engage myself in the story. Intriguing concept, but the plot just fell flat for me. The horrible narration of the audio version did not help, either... the narrator constantly pronounced letters that should be silent ('SUB-tle") and had no idea what to do with two vowels in a row ("groin" = "grow-in"). Painful at best, I have too many other things I would rather spend my time reading.
review 2: So I consumed this book in a single day, as I am prone to do, and I am glad I did. This book was really interesting and a little disturbing. There is a lot of torture that is pretty crazy if you have a good literary imagination. The concept of this book is great. The basic summary is that the government is doing crazy
... moreresearch on someone based off of Nazi experiments. The narrator was good but not great. The sense of tension in the action parts is lost in his melodic voice. Otherwise, it was a great book. less

Mostly good book with a rushed, too easily tied up ending.

Started well, then just got plain silly and dumb.
