review 1: I like that almost all loose ends were tied up. But I feel like the end was just rushed so the series will finally end. I have so many questions about the ending -- such as how do we know Red was qualified to be part of the Specialists, given that he's a bit weak? Also, they readily accepted the arrival of Gigi's sister. Since she's independent, how do we know she's not working for anyone?But I really enjoyed the series, and I wish there's more!
review 2: Once again, a fun read. The latter books of this series seem a little better, but that could just be because I've grown attached to the characters and/or because they're developed enough to do more interesting things. Overall, this series was written passably well, although a bit stereotypically. The author... more uses made-up countries and tribes, which is probably a good thing, otherwise it would be blatantly obvious that the countries and cultures are caricatures and/or made with what could easily have been found watching television or a quick google search.This last volume in particular had terrible editing. I read the electronic version, so hopefully that's the culprit, but it wasn't just the capitalization errors at the beginning of each chapter. There were incorrect word usages, misspellings, wrong tenses and commonly mispelled/misused words ("to" instead of "too"). At times, this volume seemed rushed, or like some middle school kid got a hold of the premise and wrote it. Hopefully this isn't going to be the norm with more books being published electronically.Plot-wise, I was a little bummed that this volume combined the stories of two of the Separatists instead of giving each character their own (as in previous volumes), but it ended up working well. I also thought that this volume was less annoying, but that could merely be because the main character and her boyfriend broke up at the beginning of the book, so I didn't have to deal with the frequent mushy thoughts and scenes. less
