review 1: In this little chapter about how Ashlynn Ella lives her life we also learn about some of the special gifts she has that are only touched on a little bit in the Ever After High books. She can talk to animals, and they can talk to her, so she is a vegan. It is explained and not pushed in our faces that she is. If she is late anywhere her clothes change into rags. This is a little silly, and I’m not sure if they will eventually turn back, but honestly this is a silly little series so I’ll allow it haha. This little short brings up the question-if Cinderella’s mother died in the original story, and her father also dies after marrying a terrible woman with terrible daughters, how does Ashlynn feel about her fate? She has lived her whole life knowing that she will take up ... moreher mother’s story, and her story starts off very dark. She also mentions briefly what happened to Cinderella’s stepsisters, though I forget how Hale handled it, I do know that in the original story their fates were not happy ones at all.
review 2: Series Summary: Totally didn't like the idea and wonder why I chose these books again. Being a fan of fairytales I was looking forward to see what kind of twist but this is going to be one series that I am truly going to stay away from. The children were snobby and the people no matter the age were mentally damaged. I mean who has ever suffered in life would hope their children would willing suffer the same fate just to be happily ever after? So wrong in so many accounts. And the modern touch was interesting but the way the author made parodies and pans of it while also giving the story a "fairytale valley girl" touch just made want to cringe. This isn't the way fairytales are suppose to go..... And don't even mention the shoe fetish that every character seems to go through *smh*. Book Summary: This book veered off just a bit away from the stories told by Apple White and Briar Rose where they were the snobby girls who just had to have their fashion or shoes just right. But even though she is concerned about her clothes - she just shrugs off her rags when breaks curfews and is alright with wearing her mom's hand-me-downs. Ashlynn had a bit more compassion and more thought of others than some of the other girls but that didn't last long for she was still thinking about me, me, me. And while she was thinking about poor me she didn't seem to be bothered with the dark story that she was going to face nor was she challenged enough to really want to change her situation so her "real" dreams could come true. less

It was nice to get a look into Ashlynn's story, her scenes in the book make more sense now.
