review 1: Book Blurb: What happens when two worlds collide? Chloe Valcourt drifts between two worlds: the dark reality of her horrible parents and doctors versus the vivid fantasy of her imagination. A chance encounter with a handsome and vaguely familiar young man in her dream world hints at the possibility of hidden truths—and a life she can’t remember. As her drifts become a greater escape from the cruelty of the real world, Chloe finds herself lost between what is real and what is imagined, questioning her very existence. Can she remain in the lush new imagined landscape to find happiness in a realm of her own invention? Is she doomed to return to the harsh reality of the outside world forever? Or will she become trapped somewhere between the two…unable to return to either... more? A thriller guaranteed to make your mind spin, Schasm is a young adult novel destined to change how you view the power of your mind.Review: wow, this story hooks you from the beginning! It is written as Chole's point of view so it seems as if everyone she knows (her mom and doctors) are trying to just keep her trapped away. The story deals with mental illness and genetics. Chloe falls for handsome and brave Alex in her fantasy world. She doesn't remember him and she wants to know why she has no recollection of him. She does find out and discovers a whole lot more about Alex and her maternal family! Can she stay with Alex in their paradise or will she have to face reality where she doesn't feel loved. It is a great read! I can't wait to read the next book!
review 2: Schasm is a gripping, psychological thriller that will keep you guessing from beginning to end. Chloe has lived her entire life basically a prisoner in her own home. Her mother treats her bad and only allows her to leave the house to go to the doctor where she always accompanies her. She thinks Chloe is mentally ill. Chloe is left with only her imagination so she drifts. She lives an entirely different life in her other world. It's here that she meets Alex and his mother Celia. Chloe finds out that she knew them since she was a child. Is Alex and Celia real, has she known them since childhood or is it all in her imagination? I don't want to give too much of the story away. I will say that there is some romance and lots of twists and turns. I have not read a book like this before and I was just blown away by it. I was told that I would either love it or hate it. Well I loved it. It kept me guessing and wondering what was real and what was in her imagination. The ending has a major twist and then we are left with a cliffhanger ending. I need book two like now. Even if this is not a genre that you normally read, I recommend you read this. It's that good. This is an author whose books I want to read more of. This e-book was provided to me for review. This did not affect my review in any way. less
